Well, I've only been at this bike-riding thing 2 years. Before my 31st year, I'd only ridden a few bikes from time to time and dreamed. I'm hooked now. Thinking of buying a second bike: an enduro.
Unfortunately, what I've noticed is that there is an enourmous amount of *perception* that goes along with riding. There seems to be a ranking of "who's the better biker". The primary measure of this on the road is what you ride, and if it ain't a Harley, it's not shit.
I'd like a Harley. They are cool bikes. That's what drew me to the Savage: it's clone look for the price. But I do see a lot of other non-HD bikes on the road.
I look at my Savage in the garage and say, "damn that bike's good-looking". And I can't wait to ride it next. As long as I feel that way about my bike, I'll be keeping it.
BTW, Motorcyclist mag sucks. I only tried it cuz my daughter was selling magazines. The guys that write for that magazine are all sport bike and track racing; stuff I'm not going to do anytime in this life. I've never even heard a cruiser mag praise the Savage either...oh well...they live in a dream world anyways...all those free test bikes...
